Tax cut deal
December 5, 2010
(Reuters) – Senior lawmakers said on Sunday they were optimistic about striking a deal to extend Bush-era tax cuts for all taxpayers and continue emergency jobless aid for millions of long-term unemployed Americans.
If the deal includes revising and review after the next presidential election, we know where that will get us. The cuts will become permanent. The pressure will continue to be to keep the cash in the ahnds of the wealth and push new taxes, like a15 cent gasoline tax, on ordinary earners. So with Medicaid and Social Security.
The alternative is a really strong leadership for the growth of a new kind of economy where the US can lead us away from a monopolistic oil burning oligopoly.
